Book 34: American Royals

One of my goals for 2020 is to read more. What better way than to commit to reading one book a week? 52 books in 52 weeks and I’ll be sharing every single one on the blog, every Sunday. Check in for my latest reads and recommendations.

Some may find this books cheesy but I really liked it. In “American Royals,” Katharine McGee presents an incredibly compelling story about a royal family, if America had royal families. As the reader, you become invested in the characters, feeling the frustrations they feel. The ending was a little unsatisfactory and I will say, put me off a little bit, because in a book like this I just want a happy “everything’s wrapped up” kind of ending, which you don’t get. Granted, there is a sequel coming.

“American Royals” is definitely a lighter read but very entertaining. I feel like the story is almost made for TV. I’m not sure why we are all so fascinated with royalty (don’t try to deny it!) but this book satisfies that interest. Think Princess Diaries but better. A great book to end the summer with.

Wirth Rating: 4/5
