My Everyday Shower Routine // Hair and Skin Care

Okay, so maybe this is more like an every-other-day shower routine. I’ve been trying to wash my hair less frequently because when I used to wash it everyday, it would be super greasy if I ever missed a shower. Since I’ve changed up my routine, it has gotten better. My hair is naturally fine and straight in texture and more often than not needs a serious dose of moisture when I finally get around to cleaning it. Similarly, with the changing season, I’ve been working on giving my skin a little extra care. Recently I’ve been loving Aveeno’s products: their…

College 101: 5 Tips on Decorating Your Dorm Room

Going back to school has always been one of my favorite times of the year. There’s something so exciting about a new start, with all the new opportunities it holds. When it comes to college, I’ve discovered this is multiplied by ten, especially because I live on campus. One of my favorite things to do, come September, is decorate my dorm room. I believe in changing things up, bit by bit, every year. However, there are a few specific ideas I stick to when it comes to making a new space a home. My roommates keep joking that I’ve created…

Feels Like Home – September Playlist

Happy September! After a brief hiatus from blogging, I’m coming back with more content, more inspiration, and more intent than ever; change always seems to motivate me. Does anyone else think that summer flew by? It feels like only days ago I was hiking in the woods with my pup, eating peaches off my grandfather’s tree, and napping in the sunshine. While fall is my favorite season, there are so many sweet little summer memories I always hold onto after I’ve gone back to school to start the new year. All the changes that accompany the beginning of September can…

Caitlin’s Confections: Cadbury Easter Nests

The other day my friend Jessica and I came to the conclusion that Easter has the best candy of all the holidays, hands down. In this case, I can’t even get mad that they start promoting holidays in the grocery stores way too early. As soon as you can buy Cadbury Mini Eggs, I’m fully on board. My dad buys them every year, and I have absolutely no willpower. Naturally, when brainstorming desserts to make for Easter, I wanted to include them. These Cadbury Nests are quick, easy, and adorable! (I also think this recipe would be awesome to try, if you have a…

Caitlin’s Confections: Everything But the Kitchen Sink Cookies

Everything But the Kitchen Sink Cookies are something of my own creation. Being at school, I am missing the kitchen at home so much. I miss concocting new recipes, seeing how they’re going to turn out. These cookies were definitely a success. If you’re looking for a recipe that’s a little more exciting than traditional chocolate chip, this is the one for you. I remember my mom making “Stone Soup” when I was younger; she loved to make meals where you just threw everything in together at random. There are so many dishes where you can use this method, be it savory or sweet. The…

Monkeyin’ Around

Out of all the times we’ve visited my grandparents in Texas, we have never once been to the Dallas Zoo. We took the trip yesterday to walk around and see the animals and I’m so glad we did. The Dallas Zoo is almost two zoos in one, since it’s split into sections called “Zoo North” and the “Wilds of Africa.” My family spent the majority of our visit in the “Wilds of Africa” with the gorillas, chimpanzees, elephants, penguins, lions, cheetahs, and of course, the giraffes. This was the first time I had ever been so close to them! Emily is…
