Caitlin’s Confections: The Best Chocolate Chip Cookies

Chocolate Chip Cookies have always been my thing. For parties, my friends always expected them, and the plate was cleaned within an hour. I feel like they’re one of those comfort foods, the kind you always want to have around. This recipe is my favorite: it’s fairly fool proof, with a few tricks thrown in. Ingredients:  2 sticks of butter or 8 ounces, melted 2 eggs 2 cups brown sugar 1/2 cup white sugar 2 1/2 cups of flour 1 tsp. baking soda 1 tsp. baking powder 1/2 tsp. salt 1 1/2 cups chocolate chips To Make:  Combine flour, baking soda,…

Rainy Walks

My dad and I took a rainy walk downtown the other night to do some last minute Christmas shopping, to grab a coffee, and to check out the decorations. The lights down by the harbor are always so beautiful and it’s nice to see the cobblestone streets and sidewalks fairly empty for a change. I love living in an area where you can walk or bike places. I’ve discovered that driving and traffic make me anxious and angry, but being out in the fresh air makes such a positive difference in my attitude. As the weather gets colder, there’s…

Take a Trip to Block Island

One of my favorite summer day trips to take is to Block Island. My family has been taking the ferry out of Point Judith for as long as I can remember, but this year Jake and I planned our own trip: one last summer adventure. Looking back at the pictures now brings on a total wave of nostalgia, and it was only a week ago. I wanted to make a post with some of the pictures we took and to share what we did with the day, in case anyone was looking for a guide to the island. To start off, we took the…

20 Things in 20 Years

Yesterday I turned 20 years old, and everyone keeps asking me if I feel different. I may not feel older, may not recognize a difference between being a teenager and an adult, but I’m highly aware of how much time has already passed in my life. That being said, I compiled this short list of 20 things that I have learned in my 20 years. It feels good to do good things for other people. You should always eat dessert first. If your family seems crazy, then you’re just as bad. Stick with places and people that make you happy.…

73 Questions

When I was younger, Facebook ‘notes’ were popular, and I remember writing silly little answers to loaded questions that no one probably ever read. Today, I see these kind of videos circulating the internet. Vogue’s youtube channel specifically films videos with celebrities, asking them 73 questions in a short period of time, a snapshot of who they are as a person. It’s been a lazy, cloudy morning and I haven’t blogged in a little while, so I thought I would answer 73 questions of my own, to give you, the readers of this blog, a little insight into my life…

Purity Ice Cream

Purity Ice Cream is a landmark in Ithaca, New York. With creative flavors like Bulldog Crunch, Finger Lake Tourist, Chocolate Covered Strawberry, and Green Tea, there’s an ice cream to satisfy everyone! It’s a little shop but they’ve recently expanded to include an indoor seating area in the back and whenever we stop by the place is packed! In my mind, there’s always been a strong connection between summertime and ice cream; stopping after a beach day or a picnic to get a cone, ending up with sticky fingers because it was too warm to not drip. As the poster…
