My Everyday Shower Routine // Hair and Skin Care

Okay, so maybe this is more like an every-other-day shower routine. I’ve been trying to wash my hair less frequently because when I used to wash it everyday, it would be super greasy if I ever missed a shower. Since I’ve changed up my routine, it has gotten better. My hair is naturally fine and straight in texture and more often than not needs a serious dose of moisture when I finally get around to cleaning it. Similarly, with the changing season, I’ve been working on giving my skin a little extra care. Recently I’ve been loving Aveeno’s products: their…

Hair Secret for Summer: L’occitane Hair Mask

If you’re like me, the summer does terrible things to your hair. Between dry air and humidity, sunshine and salt water, my locks are dry and unruly more days than not. Recently, however, I’ve been tackling a new problem: hair falling out. The first time I pulled a handful of strands out during a shower, I thought I was going bald. I wore a ratty pink headband for half a year. In highschool, I got bangs again. Then, my boyfriend at the time, informed me that he hated bangs. I still remember how it felt as I sat, phone in hand, pulling on my newly cut fringe. Why do women consistently hate getting their hair cut?  It’s all about perspective. Today I went to the salon and once again had bangs…

Prom Night

My little sister went to prom last night, which was crazy to witness, to say the least. My main thought: when in the world did she get this old? Getting Emily ready for prom was so much fun. She wore a dress she had gotten for junior prom and never ended up wearing, did her own makeup, and then let me play around with her hair. Our first decision was small braids framing her face. Then, I was going to pull the rest of her blonde locks into an undo, but during our “we’re starving, let’s eat pizza” break, she decided she…
