Book 39: Wayside School Gets a Little Stranger

One of my goals for 2020 is to read more. What better way than to commit to reading one book a week? 52 books in 52 weeks and I’ll be sharing every single one on the blog, every Sunday. Check in for my latest reads and recommendations.

My kiddos loved the first “Wayside School” book so much that they demanded that we start the next one right after we finished.

The stories in this one are not as good, I will say, but a lot of the same little ideas carry through and the kids loved remembering things from the first book. I was amazed at how much stuck with them! The “Wayside School” series is definitely a fun read aloud- it really lets you use expression in your voice and it’s awesome for teaching predictions (because Louis Sachar throws in such great twists).

I’m not sure that we’ll continue with the series after this one, but if the children ask, they will receive. Maybe I’ll even have them write a “Wayside School” version of our classroom!
