One of my goals for 2020 is to read more. What better way than to commit to reading one book a week? 52 books in 52 weeks and I’ll be sharing every single one on the blog, every Sunday. Check in for my latest reads and recommendations.
So the last Ruth Ware mystery I tried to read, I couldn’t finish. This one, I couldn’t put down! Holy cow- this book had me on the edge of my seat.
In a Dark, Dark Wood is set during a “Hen’s Weekend” (bachelorette weekend) where the main character Nora is invited along for a very specific reason by an old friend.
There was such a sense of “not knowing” right away in this story that hooked me almost immediately. I never caught on to the twist ending, which is always kind of fun, and I found the story moved at a very reasonable pace. The characters were flawed in ways that made you hate them and root for them at the same time and the time jump between present and past was very intriguing.
A quick, easy read, but engaging all the same. A mystery I would definitely recommend.
