One of my goals for 2020 is to read more. What better way than to commit to reading one book a week? 52 books in 52 weeks and I’ll be sharing every single one on the blog, every Sunday. Check in for my latest reads and recommendations.
This week’s book is a doozy. I started getting smarter about my finances when I got my first real job, but for someone who didn’t, I would highly recommend this money guide by Ramit Sethi. He lays out all the steps you need to take to get secure and smart about your money- and his “be rich” secret? It’s all up to you.
I feel like this book is perfect for anyone in their twenties looking to step up their finances. Sethi suggests and shares how to do things like pay off debt, utilize credit cards properly, benefit from savings accounts and the big one for me, invest. I was pleased that while reading through, I was noticing a lot of things I’ve already implemented in my life. However, I know that’s not the case for everyone.
I found “I Will Teach You to Be Rich” to be very informative, even though I already knew a lot of what Sethi was sharing. I didn’t mind re-reading things I’d been told prior, especially because his humor in the text makes it very enjoyable. He keeps things real and personal. If you’re looking for a guide to jump start your finances, this is a great place to start.
