One of my goals for 2020 is to read more. What better way than to commit to reading one book a week? 52 books in 52 weeks and I’ll be sharing every single one on the blog, every Sunday. Check in for my latest reads and recommendations.
I read The Couple Next Door in about four hours. I started it before a yoga class, thought about what I’d read all through my yoga class (achieving very little zen) and got right back to reading once I got home. The story was nauseating and horrifying but I couldn’t put it down.
Here’s the premise: a young couple returns home from a dinner party next door to discover their baby is missing.
That’s all I’m going to say.
I didn’t even know that much, before I dove into this book and jeez, I had questions and I wanted answers.
My favorite mysteries/thrillers are the ones I can’t figure out. Most of the time, I find myself saying “I could write this thing!” That being said, I was a little disappointed when I got to a point and said “ah, that’s exactly what I thought happened.” Then I realized I was only halfway through the story. So.. not figured out. Not in the least.
The idea of a missing baby is so emotionally captivating and the fact that this story is such an easy read makes it the perfect weekend book, when you just want to curl up and never leave the house. If you’re looking for a story you won’t want to put down, this is the one for you.
