Playlist 05

This weekend, Newport will be hosting the Newport Folk Festival on the grounds of Fort Adams. It is the first year in a while that my family won’t be going (we agreed that after last year’s amazing sets, we could afford to take a year off). Still, that doesn’t mean I’m not indulging in my share of ‘folkin good music.

This playlist is a compilation of the favorite artists who I’ve seen at the Newport Folk Festival over the past few years. From the Lumineers to Shakey Graves, Deer Tick and Dawes – there are some great bands and great artists. It’s a playlist to relax to, to dance to, to make you smile and weep. I’ve always found that folk musicians have a unique way of connecting with the audience. They take universal thought and put it into words. They make you feel something.
