Closet Staple: Camel Coat
Welcome to the coldest part of the year- or not. Today I’m sharing one of my favorite winter styles, a chic and stylish camel coat, but outside it feels like spring.
Hello Winter, are you there? It’s me Caitlin.
What even is the weather in the north-east right now? It’s been very rainy and terribly windy, but in the forties and fifties for weeks! I think back to my freshman year of college when our spring semester was disrupted so frequently by the weather and wonder if we’ll even get a snow day this year. I know that I for one, have my fingers crossed. What’s winter without snow? Sad.
All ranting aside, I would recommend adding this camel coat to any wardrobe. I hope that we all will need it sometime soon. I’m typically one for black outwear- black anything really, but this Christmas I asked for something a little different. The camel coat (pictured above) is from H&M and is a great, inexpensive piece and a definite closet staple. I love the sturdy wool fabric and the length is fantastic, falling at the knee. It’s an incredibly classic style. When I wear it, I feel like I’m channeling Olivia Pope, off to save the world (or the children at my practicum site). I’m definitely at the age where I’m trying to update my wardrobe with sophisticated pieces that are timeless, long-lasting. This is one of those pieces.
I find that too often when it’s cold out, I want to throw on the warmest thing I have, which usually consists of a ski jacket. However, some occasions require nicer outerwear. Above I styled this camel coat with black jeans and a tight black turtleneck, but I think it would also look great with a white sweater dress or basic denim. Ultimately, I’m very much hoping that winter is, in fact, coming, and I plan to bundle up when the weather finally gets cold.
