Simple Holiday Makeup Look
I’m not one to write about makeup often, because in all honesty, I very rarely actually wear it. However, around the holidays, I love dressing up for parties with friends. I was looking into a couple new products to update my look, and was hearing a lot about bareMinerals. I’ve been wanting to give their products a try and there are some great holiday sets out now, at very reasonable prices. I purchased a few of these sets and used them to create a simple, natural, holiday makeup look.
Face: This was definitely one of the more expensive products I used in this look, but I had heard such good things that I really wanted to give it a try. The bareMinerals, BAREPRO powder foundation gives incredible, all day coverage. In high school I had acne and I still get breakouts occasionally, but for the most part my skin is pretty clear. That being said, I feel like this foundation would benefit someone with more acne prone skin as well. I really like the way it evened out my skin tone and provided coverage while still feeling light and airy. Foundations often make my skin breakout, but this has not. I would say this is definitely a new favorite in my makeup collection.
Eyes: I used two different holiday sets for my eyes – the “Make Mine a Double” mascara gift set and the “Take a Peek” loose powder eyeshadow gift set. I love the mascaras BareMinerals makes and find that I forget I’m wearing it more often than not. My eyelashes are fairly short, but I felt like this mascara really gave them definition. The shadows are great as well, light but well pigmented. The set I purchased includes three colors: a light brown beige I used on my lid, a deep chestnut I used in my crease, and a light buttercup I used on my brow bone and in the center corners of my eyes. I really liked that these shades were natural but contained sparkles, making them fit for a festive evening in December.
Lips: BareMinerals sells one of the best liquid lipsticks I have ever used. The kit I purchased – “Nude and Nice” – covered all the bases with a light pink shade, a nude pink shade (worn in the photos above), and a rosy mauve shade. All three were so smooth and smelled sweet like candy. I love matte lipsticks, especially because glossier products make me feel like a twelve year old. Because my skin naturally pales in the winter months, I like keeping my lips light and bright. This holiday lip set is perfect for that.
Makeup is a funny thing. Most days, I feel my best without it. Some days, especially with the products I used above, I feel even better with it. It’s think there’s definitely a difference between using makeup in a natural way to accentuate your features and changing your appearance through contouring and coverup. No girl should ever be embarrassed by what’s underneath the makeup. Beauty is far more than skin deep.
