Caitlin’s Confections: Inside Out Apple Crisp

Apple crisp is hands down one of my favorite fall desserts. The warm, nutty flavors blend perfectly with a freshly picked, crisp apple. These inside out apple crisps are a super easy version you can put together at any time!

  • 5 to 6 apples, depending on size
  • 1 cup oats (I love Bob’s Red Mill Organic Oats)
  • 1/2 cup crushed almonds
  • 1/2 cup crushed walnuts
  • 1/4 brown sugar

First, gently hollow out the apples, removing the cores and stem. Mix together the oats, nuts, and brown sugar in a bowl until blended. Stuff the apples with the crisp mixture and bake at 350 degrees for 15 to 20 minutes. Serve warm and top with vanilla ice-cream or fresh whipped cream.

This dish is perfect for last minute get togethers or any time when you just need some comfort food. What’s your favorite way to serve up apple crisp?
