Fourth of July Star Pies 

2 tbsp. butter

8 ounces strawberries, blueberries, or a mixture of both

1/3 cup sugar

1/4 tsp. salt

1 box prep-made pie crusts (2 crusts)

1 egg

2 tbsp. milk

Sugar to sprinkle on top

1. In a saucepan, warm 2 tbsp. of butter on medium heat. Once bubbling, add either 8 ounces or strawberries, 8 ounces of blueberries, or an 8 ounce mixture of both. Add 1/3 cup sugar and 1/4 tsp. salt to the mixture. Turn the heat to medium-low and leave for five minutes. Take the mixture off heat and let it sit.

2. Unroll a pre-made pie crust and cut stars with a cookie cutter. Place star dough on a greased cookie sheet or parchment lined sheet. Place a spoonful of the fruit mixture in the middle of the dough. Place another star dough on top and pinch the edges and corners together.

3. Once the star pies have been constructed, brush them with a mixture of 1 egg and 2 tbsp. of milk and sprinkle sugar on top.

4. Bake the star pies at 400 degrees fahrenheit for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown. Once baked, let cool or serve warm!
